After a seven-year evaluation period, the F-15SG (formerly F-15T), a variant of the F-15E, was ordered by the Republic of Singapore Air Force. There were five other aircraft in contention for the order, and the F-15SG was chosen on Sep 6, 2005 over the Dassault Rafale, the only other aircraft remain in contention at the time. An order for 12 F-15SG aircraft was placed in Dec 2005. The package’s options include AIM-120C and AIM-9X missiles; GBU-38 JDAM and AGM-154 JSOW air-to-ground weapons, Night Vision Goggles and Link 16 terminals.
On October 22, 2007 Singapore exercised an option to purchase 8 more F-5SG, Along with this buy, an additional order was made for four F-15SGs, bring the total order to 24.
The first F-15SG was rolled out on Nov 3, 2008, and deliveries began in 2009. All 24 were ready by Sep 2013. Singapore may order more F-15SGs.
